For the third consecutive year, Defender Rally Series and Tata Elxsi are continuing their collaboration, strengthening a relationship that began with the inaugural 2022 championship.

The 2024 Defender Rally Series is the biggest yet, with the UK Championship and European Baja Championship building on the successful 2022 and 2023 campaigns.

The series consists of seven challenging events across the UK and Republic of Ireland, with up to 16 competitors taking part in each round. This year, a number of teams from the 2023 UK Championship have qualified for the European Baja Championship, which includes four rounds in Great Britain, France, Spain and Iceland.

With vehicles competing on some of the toughest rally stages the UK and Europe have to offer, the Defender 90 is built to handle everything a rally event can throw at it, with an expert team from Bowler Motors handling all mechanical upgrades, rally support, competition entries and vehicle logistics.

Committed to pushing the boundaries of automotive design and technology, global design and technology services provider Tata Elxsi will support all British and international events in 2024, after helping to develop the rally-ready Defender 90 over four years ago.

A high-performance environment with constant demands on teams and support crews defines Tata Elxsi’s founding principle of “Xtreme Engineering”. The Defender Rally Series is the ideal partner for Tata Elxsi’s products and services in the modern automotive industry.

James Barclay, Managing Director, JLR Motorsport, said: “The Defender Rally Series is now well established, with the 2024 season recording the highest number of entries to date and Tata Elxsi’s support from the outset has been crucial in making this possible. The Defender Rally Series not only demonstrates the Defender’s performance in a motorsport application, but also enables our customers to benefit from it in a competitive environment. Renewing our partnership with Tata Elxsi can only further strengthen the series’ potential for the future.”

Calum McKechnie, Managing Director of Bowler Motors, said: “Tata Elxsi has played a crucial role in the development of the entire Defender Rally Series. It is therefore fitting to announce that they will continue to support us throughout this season as it proves to be our most important and competitive year yet. Each specially prepared Defender 90 is ready to race and our championship continues to go from strength to strength, helping to develop teams for the most demanding off-road events.

With technical support provided to all participants in the series, Tata Elxsi logos will adorn every Defender 90 competing throughout the 2024 season.

Ganesh Kumar, Managing Director and Account Director, JLR at Tata Elxsi, said: “The Defender Rally Series and Tata Elxsi share a common foundation of Xtreme engineering, thriving in challenging environments, building high-performance teams and harnessing new-generation technologies to enable modern technology to revolutionise the automotive industry. Together, we don’t just design vehicles; we create experiences that reflect the passion and adventurous spirit of every off-road enthusiast. Our journey with the Defender Rally Series is a testament to our expertise in developing rugged, cutting-edge solutions for the most demanding terrains, and we look forward to another year of shared success and extreme engineering.

With the first three rounds of both championships complete, the Defender Rally Series and Tata Elxsi will work together over the coming months to ensure that drivers, co-drivers, team members and engineers have a fun and competitive year.”
