Tata Power has unveiled an ambitious plan to expand its EV charging network to 400,000 points across India by 2027. This large-scale initiative aims to address EV range anxiety and accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles nationwide. With the milestone of 200,000 EV sales already achieved, TATA.ev is strengthening its commitment to providing accessible and convenient charging solutions. The company is rapidly advancing India’s transition to sustainable mobility by focusing on infrastructure development, technological innovation, and enhanced customer experiences.
TATA.ev’s ‘Open Collaboration’ Initiative
In 2023, TATA.ev introduced its ‘Open Collaboration’ model to strengthen India’s EV infrastructure by partnering with Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs). This collaboration has enabled the installation of charging stations at key locations, such as highways, making long-distance travel more feasible for EV owners. As a result of these efforts, over 18,000 public charging stations have been set up within just 15 months.
The initiative has also significantly expanded private charging options, with 150,000 home chargers, 2,500 community chargers, and 750 dealership-based charging stations deployed across 200 cities in India. These expansions highlight TATA.ev’s commitment to making EV charging widely accessible across the country.
Building on this success, TATA.ev is now launching ‘Open Collaboration 2.0.’ The next phase aims to double the existing infrastructure by installing over 400,000 charging stations in the next two years. This bold expansion further solidifies TATA.ev’s role in accelerating EV adoption and ensuring seamless charging access across India.

Strengthening EV Infrastructure with Mega Chargers
Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, emphasized the company’s leadership in India’s EV transition through extensive product development and infrastructure advancements. As part of its expansion strategy, TATA.ev plans to deploy Mega Chargers in major cities and along key highways. Additionally, the company will introduce the TATA.ev Verified Charger network to ensure high-quality charging solutions.
To facilitate this, TATA.ev has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Tata Power, ChargeZone, Statiq, and Zeon, aiming to install 500 TATA.ev Mega Chargers within the next two years. The initiative will also introduce a centralized Charging Helpline and improved payment systems, enhancing accessibility and user convenience. While these charging stations will be open to all EV users, Tata EV owners will receive priority access and special tariffs.

Enhancing User Convenience with Digital Solutions
To streamline the EV charging experience, TATA.ev will launch the IRA.ev app, enabling users to easily track charging station availability and make seamless payments. This digital platform is expected to further simplify the charging process and improve customer satisfaction.
In addition to public charging infrastructure, TATA.ev is investing in home and community charging programs, mobile charging vans, and strategic partnerships to strengthen India’s EV ecosystem. With these advancements, the company continues to lead the charge toward a greener, more electrified future for India. Also Read: MG Select Unveils Dealer Network for Cyberster and M9 Launch
