A video showing a young couple drinking alcohol through the open sunroof of a moving car has been widely circulated on social media, prompting swift action from the police. The incident occurred on the Tambaram-Pallavaram road in Chennai, where the couple’s dangerous road stunt caught the attention of the public.
Law Student Driving Under the Influence
The individuals involved were identified as 23-year-old Sanjay, a law student, and his girlfriend Veena. Reports indicate that Sanjay was driving the car under the influence of alcohol, leading to legal action being taken against him. The couple’s reckless behavior on the busy road sparked outrage online, further fueling the need for police intervention.
Couple Arrested for Reckless Behavior
Following the video’s virality, local police arrested the couple for their unsafe actions. They were charged with reckless driving and violating road safety regulations. The police traced their car using the license plate seen in the video and subsequently seized the vehicle.

The video begins with the couple standing on the car seats, peeking out of the sunroof while holding a bottle of alcohol. They can be seen conversing with each other before indulging in the drink as they stood through the sunroof on the busy Chennai road. Although someone else was reportedly driving at that moment, it was later revealed that Sanjay also drove the car while intoxicated.
The Tambaram police apprehended the couple for causing a disturbance on the road, while the Thoraipakkam police, located about 20 kilometers from the initial location, registered a case and confiscated Sanjay’s vehicle.
