Hyundai Motor Group has announced an expanded collaboration with Google to offer next-generation navigation and infotainment solutions in its vehicles. New Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis models will now integrate the Google Maps Platform, providing real-time access to information about 250 million global locations. This enhancement will work alongside the Android Automotive Operating System (AAOS), bringing greater convenience to drivers.
By incorporating the Google Maps Platform’s Places API, Hyundai Motor Group aims to improve navigation accuracy with updated details such as business hours, ratings, contact information, and reviews. Kia drivers in North America will be the first to benefit from these new features, with a phased rollout planned for Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles worldwide.
Chang Song, President and Head of Hyundai Motor Group’s Advanced Vehicle Platform Division, highlighted the significance of this partnership. He stated, “Hyundai Motor Group is committed to developing customer-centric technologies in mobility and software-defined vehicles. Collaborating with Google allows us to expand our technology ecosystem and deliver enhanced value to customers globally.”
Jorgen Behrens, Vice President and General Manager of Google Maps Automotive, emphasized Google’s role in supporting drivers with accurate and up-to-date information. He said, “With over 100 million updates made daily to Google Maps, we ensure users can access fresh information to navigate efficiently. By integrating our Places API into Hyundai Motor Group vehicles, we are enabling drivers to travel with confidence and look forward to further innovation together.”
In addition to the Google Maps integration, Hyundai Motor Group has adopted Google’s Android Automotive Operating System to strengthen its software-defined vehicle capabilities. This move aims to secure a competitive edge in the evolving mobility landscape and solidify the Group’s leadership in future-ready automotive technologies.
Looking ahead, Hyundai Motor Group plans to continue working closely with Google to advance AI and future mobility solutions, enhancing the driving experience for customers around the world.
