Affordable EV Charging Solution: Ultraviolette’s UVLYNC Priced at ₹2,999

Ultraviolette UVLYNC

Ultraviolette Automotive, known for its F77 electric sports bike and its Mach 2 version, has introduced a new charging solution called UVLYNC. This device allows electric two-wheeler owners to utilize electric car charging stations, simplifying the charging process and expanding access to charging infrastructure. Priced at Rs 2,999, UVLYNC is compatible with AC chargers from any manufacturer and can be used with any electric two-wheeler, not just Ultraviolette models. It will be available through Ultraviolette dealerships and the company’s official website.

Electric two-wheeler charging has traditionally relied on AC wall chargers or standard two/three-pin sockets. UVLYNC offers a more versatile approach. It’s a unique Type 2 compatible device. One end connects to the standard two/three-pin charger, while the other end connects to the Type 2 AC charging port commonly found at electric car charging stations. Public EV chargers typically offer both AC and DC charging options, with the Type 2 connector being prevalent for AC charging.

This component opens up access to over 4,000 AC charging stations and 100,000 Type 2 AC charging points, significantly expanding charging options for electric scooters and motorcycles. UVLYNC will facilitate longer journeys, including intercity travel.

Niraj Rajmohan, Co-Founder and CTO of Ultraviolette, commented, “By providing a universal interface, this solution expands charging possibilities and fosters greater confidence in embracing electric mobility. As more riders transition to EVs, the UVLYNC will not only simplify daily charging needs but also accelerate the development of an inclusive and robust electric ecosystem nationwide.”

Ultraviolette’s F77 electric motorcycle, launched in 2022, is available in Original and Recon trims, offering different battery capacities and performance levels. The Original variant has a 7.1kWh battery and a claimed range of 207 km, while the Recon boasts a 10.3kWh battery and a 307 km range. The Original delivers 27kW and 85Nm, and the Recon offers 29kW and 95Nm. The F77 features selectable ride modes (Glide, Combat, and Ballistic), a 5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity, navigation, ride analytics, and other features. Built on a steel trellis frame with an aluminum bulkhead, the F77 has adjustable suspension and dual-channel ABS. Warranty coverage varies between trims. The F77 Mach2, a minor update launched in April 2024, offered improved range and a lower price.
