Renault has unveiled the production version of its highly anticipated R5 Turbo 3E, a modern reimagining of the iconic R5 Turbo from the 1980s. This electric hyper hatch boasts a retro-futuristic design, combining classic elements with cutting-edge technology.
The R5 Turbo 3E’s striking appearance features boxy fender flares, oversized wheels, and a sleek greenhouse. The exterior is a blend of yellow and black, with white accents on the bumpers and side skirts. The LED headlights and taillights pay homage to the original R5, while the charging port is cleverly integrated into one of the side intakes.
Under the hood, the R5 Turbo 3E packs a powerful electric powertrain that delivers over 500 horsepower. This allows for a blistering 0-100 km/h acceleration time of under 3.5 seconds. The car is built on a bespoke carbon-fiber chassis, ensuring both lightness and rigidity.
Renault has confirmed that the R5 Turbo 3E will go into production in 2026, though specific details about pricing and availability are yet to be announced. Given its limited production run and exclusive nature, it’s expected to be a high-priced collector’s item.
The R5 Turbo 3E is a testament to Renault’s rich heritage and its commitment to innovation. It represents a thrilling blend of past and future, offering a glimpse into the electrified performance era.
