After much speculation and anticipation, Honda is poised to unveil its first electric two-wheeler for the Indian market: the electric Activa. This highly anticipated electric scooter is scheduled to be launched on November 27th, 2024.
While specific details about the electric Activa’s battery capacity and range are yet to be officially disclosed, industry experts predict that it will offer a range of around 100 kilometers on a single charge. Performance-wise, it is expected to be comparable to the traditional petrol-powered Activa.
To keep costs in check and facilitate mass production, Honda is likely to utilize a modified version of the existing Activa platform. This approach will allow the company to leverage existing infrastructure and manufacturing processes.
In terms of features, the electric Activa is expected to come equipped with modern amenities such as telescopic front forks, disc brakes, and a fully digital instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity. Additionally, it is anticipated to offer a larger storage compartment compared to the petrol-powered model.
However, Honda’s entry into the electric two-wheeler segment comes at a time when several other manufacturers, including Hero MotoCorp, TVS Motor Company, Bajaj Auto, Ather Energy, and Ola Electric, have already established their presence. The electric Activa will face stiff competition from these established players as well as emerging startups.
