Yamaha R7’s India Arrival Expected Mid-2025

Yamaha YZF-R7

Yamaha India is planning to expand its presence in the Indian motorcycle market by reintroducing some of its larger displacement bikes. Among the models being considered for launch is the YZF-R7, a sporty middleweight motorcycle already available in other countries and previously showcased in India.

The R7’s design takes inspiration from Yamaha’s higher-end sportbikes, featuring a sleek fairing, layered side panels, and an elevated tail section. It is powered by a 689cc, twin-cylinder engine, known as the CP2, which delivers 73 horsepower and 67 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox that includes a slipper clutch for smoother downshifts. While the bike offers a sporty riding experience, it keeps rider aids to a minimum, with dual-channel ABS and a quickshifter being the main electronic features.

The motorcycle’s suspension system consists of adjustable KYB upside-down forks at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. It rides on 17-inch wheels, and braking is handled by twin discs up front and a single disc at the back.

Upon its potential launch in India, the Yamaha YZF-R7 will compete against other middleweight sportbikes like the Honda CBR650R and the Triumph Daytona 660.
