Suzuki Recalls Over 263,000 Access 125 Scooters

Suzuki Access 125

Suzuki Motorcycle India has initiated a massive recall affecting nearly 264,000 units of its popular scooter, the Suzuki Access 125. This recall comes in response to a potential issue with the high tension cord, a critical component of the scooter’s ignition system.

A dominant player in the Indian scooter market, the Suzuki Access 125 directly competes with heavyweights like the Honda Activa 125, TVS Jupiter 125, and Hero Destini 125.

According to official data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the recall encompasses Access 125 units manufactured between April 30, 2022, and December 3, 2022. The issue lies in the high tension cord, which doesn’t meet the required specifications. This can lead to cracks and breakage due to engine vibrations, resulting in engine stalling, difficulty starting, and even damage to other components like the speed and throttle position sensors.

To address the problem, Suzuki will replace the faulty high tension cord free of charge at authorized service centers. Owners of affected scooters will be contacted directly by the company.

It’s important to note that this recall also includes other Suzuki models, such as the Avenis and Burgman, bringing the total number of recalled units to over 388,000.
