The Kia Sonet, having received a significant facelift earlier this year, has achieved a remarkable sales milestone, surpassing one lakh units sold in India. This success underscores the strong demand for the subcompact SUV in the Indian market.
Sales data reveals a strong preference for the petrol engine, accounting for 76% of total sales, while diesel variants make up the remaining 24%. Notably, 79% of Sonet buyers opted for variants equipped with a sunroof, highlighting the increasing popularity of this feature among Indian consumers.
Furthermore, automatic transmissions are highly sought after, with iMT and automatic variants comprising 34% of total sales. This indicates a growing preference for convenient driving options among Indian car buyers.
The Sonet facelift offers a wide range of options, including 22 variants across petrol and diesel engines with various gearbox choices. This extensive selection caters to the diverse needs and preferences of Indian customers.
However, the upcoming launch of the Kia Syros, a new subcompact SUV, could potentially impact Sonet sales. It will be interesting to observe how the market dynamics evolve in the coming months as bookings for the Syros commence.
