Morgan Teases New Flagship Sports Car: Plus Six Replacement Coming Soon

Morgan Plus Six

Morgan is preparing to unveil its new flagship sports car this spring, succeeding the Plus Six which is being retired. Teaser images of a camouflaged prototype offer a first glimpse of the upcoming model.

While the official name remains undisclosed, Morgan states the car will be instantly recognizable as a Morgan, while showcasing a more contemporary design and aerodynamically optimized proportions. The teaser images support this claim.

The prototype features a classic front fascia with a prominent horseshoe grille and circular headlights. Flowing bodywork, pronounced fenders, and retro-style mirrors complete the familiar silhouette. A unique design element is the inclusion of three windshield wipers.

The rear design echoes the Plus Six, with a dual exhaust system and fender-mounted taillights. However, a modernized bumper and what appear to be rectangular reflectors add a contemporary touch.

Underneath the surface, the car rides on Morgan’s new CXV platform, described as an “advanced evolution” of their bonded aluminum chassis. This new platform promises to be lighter and more rigid, enabling new technical features and engineering enhancements for improved performance and driving experience.

Powering the new flagship will be a turbocharged six-cylinder engine sourced from BMW. While the specific engine hasn’t been confirmed, the Plus Six used a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder producing 335 hp (250 kW) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque. That engine was paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, allowing for a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time of 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 166 mph (267 km/h). It remains to be seen if the new model will use the same engine or a different one.
