Subaru has officially confirmed the arrival of a hybrid variant for the latest generation Forester in the US market. Scheduled for a mid-2025 launch, the 2025 Forester Hybrid will leverage Toyota’s hybrid technology, promising improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions while retaining Subaru’s signature Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.
Powertrain & Efficiency
The Forester Hybrid will utilize a sophisticated self-charging hybrid system combining a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors. This series-parallel system seamlessly transitions between engine and electric power, optimizing performance and fuel economy. The system boasts a significant 20% improvement in fuel efficiency compared to Subaru’s previous e-Boxer hybrid system, which was not available in the US.
Subtle Styling, Significant Impact
Visually, the Forester Hybrid will maintain the familiar Subaru design language, with subtle distinctions like a dedicated hybrid badge on the tailgate. The focus remains on enhancing performance and efficiency rather than dramatic aesthetic changes.
Availability & Pricing
While the exact launch date remains undisclosed, Subaru is already accepting expressions of interest from potential buyers on its official website. Pricing details are yet to be announced, but the Forester Hybrid is expected to command a premium over the standard gasoline-powered models, which currently start at $29,695.
A New Era for Forester
The introduction of the Forester Hybrid marks a significant step forward for Subaru, expanding its electrified vehicle offerings in the US market. This move aligns with the growing demand for fuel-efficient and environmentally conscious vehicles, while maintaining the brand’s renowned all-weather capability and robust performance.
