TVS Motor Company is gearing up to launch an all-new adventure touring motorcycle in the first half of 2025. This highly anticipated model, currently undergoing rigorous testing, will be powered by a newly developed engine showcased at the recent Moto Soul 4.0 festival in Goa.
Following the initial sighting of camouflaged prototypes, recent spy shots have emerged, revealing the adventure tourer undergoing rigorous hill runs alongside the KTM 390 Adventure and RR 310 in Tamil Nadu, suggesting benchmark testing against key competitors.
Engine and Performance:
At the heart of this new adventure tourer lies the TVS RT-XD4 300 engine, a 299.1cc, forward-inclined single-cylinder unit. This liquid-cooled engine, producing 35 horsepower at 9,000 RPM and 28.5 Nm of torque at 7,000 RPM, incorporates advanced features like ride-by-wire throttle and an assist-and-slipper clutch for enhanced performance and control.
Design and Features:
Designed for dual-purpose adventure riding, the motorcycle boasts a rugged profile with a tall windscreen, a sharp front beak, and long-travel suspension. It rides on a combination of 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels shod with dual-purpose tires. Braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends, aided by a dual-channel ABS system.
The adventure tourer is expected to feature a comprehensive list of modern amenities, including a TFT instrument cluster, adjustable levers, golden-colored upside-down front forks, a pre-load adjustable monoshock rear suspension, LED lighting throughout, a tyre hugger, split seats, and an upright handlebar for comfortable riding ergonomics.
Electronics and Safety:
In keeping with the modern trend, the TVS adventure tourer is likely to incorporate advanced electronic rider aids such as traction control, wheelie control, and a six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU). Riders can also expect to benefit from selectable ride modes and switchable rear ABS for enhanced safety and control.
Positioning and Launch:
Drawing inspiration from the Apache series, the adventure tourer will showcase design cues reminiscent of the popular sportbike range. TVS is expected to position this model competitively, targeting a price point above the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX and KTM 250 Adventure but below the KTM 390 Adventure and the Royal Enfield Himalayan, with an estimated starting price of around Rs. 2.8 lakh (ex-showroom).
The upcoming TVS adventure tourer promises to be a compelling entry in the growing adventure motorcycle segment, offering a blend of performance, technology, and rugged capability.
