Damd Transforms Honda WR-V into Jeep-Inspired Wonder

Damd WR-V

Damd, the Japanese tuning house renowned for its outlandish, retro-inspired transformations, is once again pushing the boundaries of automotive eccentricity at the upcoming 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon. Leading the charge is the WR-V Reverb, a bold reimagining of Honda’s modest SUV that channels the spirit of the classic Jeep Cherokee XJ.

The WR-V Reverb undergoes a dramatic metamorphosis, sporting a redesigned front end with a six-slot grille and rectangular headlights, paying homage to the iconic Jeep. The transformation extends beyond aesthetics, with Damd incorporating decals reminiscent of the wood paneling often seen on vintage American station wagons. This unique blend of Jeep ruggedness and retro family hauler charm creates an undeniably quirky and attention-grabbing vehicle.

Damd’s commitment to this transformation is evident in the meticulous attention to detail. The WR-V Reverb receives a boxier hood, a rugged front bumper with unpainted plastic and faux aluminum accents, and a set of black steel wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich mud-terrain tires. This aggressive styling suggests off-road capability, even though the WR-V remains a front-wheel-drive vehicle.

Beneath the bold exterior, the WR-V Reverb maintains its core identity as a practical and affordable SUV. Powered by a 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine paired with a CVT gearbox, it remains true to its roots as a comfortable and efficient daily driver.

The WR-V Reverb is just one of Damd’s eccentric creations slated for the Tokyo Auto Salon. The Toyota Sienta Stuart, a minivan transformed into a homage to classic British cars with round headlights and a Mini Cooper-inspired grille, is sure to turn heads.

The N-Box Custom Rodney, a sporty reinterpretation of the Honda N-Box Custom kei car, features a redesigned grille, larger bumper intakes, sleek side skirts, and eye-catching bronze accents. While still a kei car, Damd’s modifications imbue it with a sense of dynamism and purpose.

Finally, the Taft Lucky, one of several Daihatsu Taft models featuring a Damd bodykit, pays homage to the 1990s Daihatsu Rocky F300 off-roader. With rectangular headlights, an upright nose, aftermarket alloy wheels, and a vintage-inspired two-tone color scheme, the Taft Lucky exudes a charmingly retro and adventurous spirit. This model is particularly noteworthy as it’s already available for purchase as a complete vehicle or a DIY conversion kit.

It’s anticipated that the other three concepts will also become available to enthusiasts following their debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon, allowing car enthusiasts to embrace Damd’s unique and unconventional approach to automotive customization.
