Yamaha’s “Jin-Ki Kanno” philosophy, translating to “the seductive exhilaration felt when truly becoming one with the machine,” likely never envisioned a creation as audacious as the Super Farthing. This custom motorcycle, the brainchild of YouTuber “Gregulations,” is a jaw-dropping blend of engineering prowess and sheer insanity.
At the heart of this monstrosity lies a Yamaha YZF-R6 engine, tasked with propelling a gargantuan, 165-kilogram billet steel front wheel – nearly as heavy as the entire R6 itself. The custom-built swingarm, also crafted from billet steel, is a testament to the sheer engineering challenge of this project.
Gregulations’ goal? To achieve a world record by exceeding 22 miles per hour on this unconventional penny farthing. While the ambitious hydraulically-folding outriggers remain unimplemented in this iteration, the process of building and testing this unique creation is a captivating spectacle.
The Super Farthing, with its over-the-top design and sheer audacity, exemplifies the limitless creativity of custom motorcycle builders and serves as a reminder that the boundaries of motorcycle engineering can always be pushed further.
