Hyundai IONIQ 5 Sets Guinness World Record for Greatest Altitude Change by an Electric Car

Hyundai Motor Company’s celebrated electric vehicle, the Hyundai IONIQ 5, has achieved a remarkable milestone by earning a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the Greatest altitude change by an electric car.

The record-breaking journey was organized by Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) and executed by a professional team from Evo India. The Hyundai IONIQ 5 successfully recorded an altitude change of 5,802 meters, beginning its journey at Umling La in Leh Ladakh—India’s highest drivable point at 5,799 meters above sea level—and concluding in Kuttanad, Kerala, which lies three meters below sea level.

Spanning 14 days, the expedition covered over 4,900 kilometers and tested the vehicle’s limits across diverse and challenging terrains. From the icy heights of the Himalayas to the humid coastal plains of Kerala, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 showcased its resilience, advanced engineering, and superior performance in extreme conditions.

This incredible achievement further highlights the IONIQ 5’s position as a trailblazer in electric mobility. Its ability to navigate harsh climates and rugged routes underscores its technological advancements and robust design.
