DS Automobiles, the French luxury brand under Stellantis, has revealed its latest flagship, the DS N°8, an all-electric fastback crossover that represents a bold new chapter for the marque. Drawing inspiration from the DS Aero Sport Lounge concept introduced in 2020, this sleek crossover blends cutting-edge aerodynamics with premium craftsmanship. It is also the first production model to utilize Stellantis’ STLA Medium architecture.
Striking Design Meets Aerodynamic Efficiency
The DS N°8 features a striking design, with a focus on aerodynamic performance. Its sleek roofline and finely contoured body achieve an impressive drag coefficient of 0.24 cd, enhancing efficiency and extending its range. At the front, a fully covered grille illuminated with the DS emblem takes center stage, flanked by DS Pixel Vision headlights and sharp daytime running lights (DRLs) that seamlessly extend into the bumper. A distinctive lighting signature continues at the rear, complemented by steeply raked C-pillars and an integrated spoiler.
The crossover showcases a sophisticated duo-tone exterior, with a deep black finish for the upper body and subtle plastic cladding at the base. High-spec models boast 21-inch forged wheels, flush door handles, and a distinctive N°8 emblem on the tailgate. Measuring 4.82 meters in length, the DS N°8 is longer than its Stellantis siblings, the Peugeot 408 and Citroën C5 X, yet shorter than the DS 9 sedan by 12 cm.
A Luxurious Interior with Advanced Tech
Inside, the DS N°8 exemplifies the brand’s commitment to luxury and innovation. A 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster sits behind a four-spoke steering wheel, accompanied by a 16-inch infotainment touchscreen and an augmented reality head-up display. The interior design is elevated by a “double-decker floating center console” with backlit star-inspired graphics and crystal-like switches.
Ambient lighting highlights intricate dashboard inserts that flow into the door panels, which house 14 Electra 3D audio speakers by Focal, integrated into perforated aluminum trim. The seats offer unparalleled comfort with massage, cooling, and heating functions, including neck warmers for front passengers. Rear passengers also enjoy heated and cooled seats, ensuring a premium experience throughout. Upholstery options include sustainable Alcantara and full-grain Nappa leather. A panoramic glass roof with infrared treatment enhances cabin comfort, while the 620-liter boot capacity ensures practicality.
The suspension system employs variable damping and road-scanning cameras for optimal ride comfort. Sound insulation is prioritized with ultra-absorbent materials and double-layer laminated glass, delivering a serene cabin experience. The DS Drive Assist 2.0 suite adds semi-autonomous driving capabilities, further enhancing convenience.
Exclusively Electric Powertrain Options
The DS N°8 is available exclusively with fully electric powertrains, distinguishing it from other Stellantis models like the Peugeot 3008 and Opel Grandland, which offer hybrid options. Front-wheel-drive (FWD) variants feature a single motor delivering either 227 hp or 242 hp, with a temporary boost function adding 30 hp. The all-wheel-drive (AWD) model pairs dual motors for a combined output of 345 hp, or up to 370 hp with boost, achieving 0-100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds. All models have a top speed of 190 km/h.
Battery options include 74 kWh and 97.2 kWh units, offering ranges of up to 750 km on the WLTP cycle. The AWD model achieves a slightly lower maximum range of 686 km. Fast charging at 200 kW DC enables a 20-80% charge in just 27 minutes, while a home charger is provided as standard for convenient daily charging.
Launch and Availability
The DS N°8 will debut in European markets by mid-2025, with pricing details to be revealed closer to its release. As the brand’s new flagship, it aims to redefine luxury, technology, and sustainable performance in the electric vehicle segment.
