Royal Enfield has officially discontinued the Scram 411 in the Indian market, marking the arrival of its successor, the Scram 440. The new model boasts a larger engine, enhanced performance, and a starting price of Rs 2.08 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a compelling upgrade.
The Scram 411, a popular scrambler motorcycle, was derived from the Himalayan 411, sharing its engine and chassis. However, it distinguished itself with smaller wheels, reduced bodywork, and a lighter weight, making it more suitable for urban riding while retaining some off-road capabilities.
The Scram 440 addresses the limitations of its predecessor with a significant upgrade: a larger engine and a smoother six-speed gearbox, offering improved highway performance compared to the Scram 411’s five-speed transmission. Furthermore, buyers can now choose between wire-spoke wheels with tube-type tires or alloy wheels with tubeless tires, enhancing versatility and catering to diverse rider preferences.

The price difference between the new Scram 440 and the discontinued Scram 411 is minimal, at only Rs 2,000. This strategic pricing makes the transition seamless for potential buyers.
The Scram 411, powered by a 411cc engine, delivered 24.3bhp and 32Nm of torque. While known for its torquey nature, the lack of a sixth gear hindered its performance on highways.
With the introduction of the Scram 440, Royal Enfield aims to meet the evolving demands of the Indian motorcycle market while maintaining competitive pricing. This move underscores the company’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction.
