A new Italian automaker, Automobili Mignatta, is entering the high-performance sports car arena. Based in Valfenera d’Asti, the company has teased its first model, a two-seater speedster named the Rina. This car aims to capture the spirit of classic 1960s sports cars while incorporating modern technology.
The Rina will feature a lightweight carbon fiber monocoque chassis and carbon fiber body panels. Teaser images showcase a classic speedster silhouette with a long hood, prominent wheel arches, and a sculpted rear end. Design highlights include tinted headlights, small wing mirrors, rollover hoops, sculpted buttresses, and a noticeable rear spoiler. Circular LED taillights add a touch of retro-modern styling.

Powering the Rina will be a naturally aspirated V8 engine, positioned behind the passenger compartment. This engine will be paired with a six-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential, promising a traditional, engaging driving experience. While the origin of the V8 remains undisclosed – whether it’s a bespoke design, sourced from another manufacturer, or based on an existing production engine – it’s expected to deliver a thrilling sound. Performance figures are yet to be released, but with a projected weight of just 2,200 lbs (1,000 kg), the Rina should boast an impressive power-to-weight ratio.

Interior details are currently under wraps, but Automobili Mignatta has confirmed that the driver and passenger seats will be integrated directly into the carbon monocoque. Notably, the car will not have a radio, prioritizing the V8’s auditory experience as the primary focus.
The official unveiling of the Rina is scheduled for May 8th. Production will be limited to 30 hand-built units annually, emphasizing the car’s exclusivity.
