Audi India is gearing up to launch the third-generation Q5 mid-size SUV in the coming year. The sportier Q5 Sportback variant, unveiled earlier this year, will also make its Indian debut. The Q5 Sportback, which will be available in European markets starting January 2025, seamlessly blends SUV practicality with a coupe-like silhouette.
The second-generation Q5 Sportback offers a generous luggage capacity of up to 515 liters (or 470 liters in the SQ5 Sportback), which can be expanded to 1,415 liters (or 1,388 liters) with the rear seats folded. The vehicle also boasts a towing capacity of up to 2,400 kg.
The Q5 Sportback incorporates Audi’s 48-volt MHEV plus electrical system, which enhances engine performance and reduces emissions. This system enables limited electric driving and parking maneuvers. The powertrain generator (PTG) provides an additional 230 Nm of torque and 24 hp of power. Additionally, the 48-volt system powers an electric air conditioning compressor, ensuring optimal climate control even when the engine is off. The lithium-ion battery, with a capacity of 1.7 kWh, supports the system’s functions.
At launch, the Q5 Sportback will be offered with three engine options, all equipped with MHEV plus technology. The S tronic seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and quattro all-wheel drive are standard across all variants.
