Mahindra Thar Gets New Deep Forest Green Color Option

Mahindra Thar

The Mahindra Thar has just received a minor update and now comes in a new color option: Deep Forest Green. Both the AX (O) and LX trims of the Mahindra off-roader can be had in this new exterior color. It was previously available on other Mahindra SUVs like the Scorpio N and, most recently, the XUV 3XO.

Updated Color Palette

Mahindra now offers the Thar in six colors: Red Rage, Deep Grey, Stealth Black, Everest White, Deep Forest (new), and Desert Fury (Earth Edition only). We recently covered all the color revisions Mahindra has made to the Thar since its launch in 2020.

No Changes to Features

The Thar sees no changes to its features and continues to be offered with a 7-inch touchscreen, manual climate control, a 6-speaker audio system, cruise control, and a height-adjustable driver’s seat. Safety features include dual front airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, electronic stability program (ESP), and rear parking sensors.

Engine Options

The Thar is available with three engine options: a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine (152 PS/300 Nm) and a 2.2-liter diesel engine (132 PS/300 Nm). Both engines come with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The rear-wheel drive (RWD) model also gets a 1.5-liter diesel engine (118 PS/300 Nm) with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Price and Competitors

The Mahindra Thar comes in two main variants, AX (O) and LX, priced between Rs 11.35 lakh and Rs 17.60 lakh (ex-showroom across India). The Mahindra Thar competes with the Force Gurkha and Maruti Suzuki Jimny, as well as similarly priced compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Toyota Hyryder, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
