Toyota Innova Hycross Hybrid: Long Wait Times, Bookings Suspended Again

Toyota Innova Hycross

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) launched the Toyota Innova Hycross in December 2022. Since then, the MPV has been successful and has enjoyed strong demand in the Indian market. The company had temporarily suspended bookings for the ZX and ZX(O) premium hybrid variants in April 2023, which resumed a year later in April 2024. And once again, just after a month, Toyota temporarily suspended reservations for the premium hybrid variants due to the long waiting period.

The waiting period for the premium hybrid variants is almost 15 months and bookings are expected to increase once the waiting period for these variants is reduced. However, interested customers can still book the VX and VX(O) mid-range hybrids and the booking amount is fixed at Rs 50,000. The waiting time for these two variants is also just under 3 months.

Additionally, the company recently launched the Toyota Innova Hycross GX (O) variant with prices starting at Rs 20.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This new GX(O) variant will be available for the non-hybrid version. The new variant will sit above the GX trim, cost Rs 100,000 more than the GX variant and will be offered in 7- and 8-seater variants. For an additional cost, this new variant offers features such as a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, two-tone interior, automatic climate control, automatic rear fan control, two-tone seats and a soft-touch dashboard, LED fog lights, retractable rear sunshade (seven seats only), 360-degree camera and front parking sensors.

The Innova Hycross GX (O) Petrol is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 173 PS of power and 209 Nm of torque. It only comes with a CVT automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels. The Hycross is also offered with a 2.0-liter hybrid gasoline engine that develops a total power of 184 hp and is equipped with an E-Drive transmission.

Both Innova Hycross engines are front-wheel drive only and come exclusively with automatic transmissions. Toyota claims a fuel efficiency figure of 23.24 kpl for the hybrid and the regular petrol variants get a fuel efficiency figure of 16.13 kpl.
