Maruti Suzuki Ignis Radiance Edition Launched

Maruti Suzuki Ignis Radiance Edition

Maruti Suzuki India has today introduced the Ignis Radiance Edition, a more affordable and feature-rich variant of its popular hatchback. Priced competitively at Rs. 5.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the Radiance Edition aims to boost Ignis sales, which have been relatively subdued compared to other Maruti models.

What’s New in the Ignis Radiance Edition?

The Radiance Edition comes with a host of cosmetic enhancements and added accessories without compromising on the base price. Customers can choose from three trim levels: Sigma, Zeta, and Alpha.

  • Ignis Radiance Edition Sigma: Priced Rs. 35,000 lower than the standard Sigma, it offers chrome accents, door visors, and 15-inch steel wheels, adding value for money.
  • Ignis Radiance Edition Zeta: Available at Rs. 35,000 less than the standard Zeta, it comes with door visors, door claddings, new seat covers, and black cushions.
  • Ignis Radiance Edition Alpha: Priced competitively, it offers a combination of features and accessories to enhance the overall appeal.

No Mechanical Changes

While the Radiance Edition brings cosmetic upgrades, the mechanicals remain unchanged. It continues to be powered by a 1.2-liter petrol engine producing 83 hp and 113 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a five-speed manual and a five-speed AMT.

Ignis: A Contender in the Compact Hatchback Segment

The Maruti Suzuki Ignis has been a part of the Indian car market since January 2017, exclusively sold through the Nexa premium retail channel. Although it competes with popular rivals like the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Tata Tiago, and Citroen C3, it has not captured the same level of market share. The Radiance Edition is a strategic move by Maruti Suzuki to revitalize the Ignis and attract more buyers.

Maruti Suzuki’s Focus on Hatchbacks

The launch of the Ignis Radiance Edition follows the introduction of the Dream series for the Alto K10, S-Presso, and Celerio. This indicates Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to strengthening its hatchback lineup. While SUVs like the Fronx, Grand Vitara, and Brezza are driving sales, the company is also keen to maintain a strong presence in the hatchback segment. The upcoming launch of the all-new Dzire further solidifies this strategy.

With the Ignis Radiance Edition, Maruti Suzuki aims to offer a compelling package that combines style, value, and practicality. It remains to be seen if this new variant can help the Ignis gain traction in the competitive hatchback market.
