The Hyundai Elantra N, a high-performance compact sedan known for its 286 horsepower turbocharged engine, sharp handling, and manual transmission option, is getting even more exciting with the introduction of the TCR Edition. Inspired by its successful Touring Car Racing (TCR) World Tour sibling, the Elantra N TCR Edition adds a touch of track-inspired flair to the already impressive package.
A Track-Inspired Appearance
The most striking feature of the TCR Edition is its massive carbon fiber swan neck spoiler, designed to enhance downforce at high speeds. While this may not be practical for everyday driving, it certainly adds to the car’s aggressive appearance. Other exterior enhancements include lightweight 19-inch N TCR forged wheels and upgraded N Performance brakes for improved handling and stopping power.
Interior Upgrades
Inside, the TCR Edition features an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel with a Performance Blue top marker, along with matching seatbelts and TCR Edition badges. These subtle touches elevate the interior’s sporty character.
Same Powerful Engine
Under the hood, the TCR Edition retains the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine as the standard Elantra N, producing 276 horsepower or 286 horsepower with N Grin Shift overboost. While the engine is undoubtedly powerful, the lack of significant mechanical upgrades in the TCR Edition may leave some enthusiasts wanting more.
Global Launch
The Hyundai Elantra N TCR Edition will launch in South Korea in December 2024, with global markets expected to follow in 2025. A potential global debut at the upcoming LA Auto Show is rumored, but not confirmed.
While the TCR Edition offers some visual and performance enhancements, it remains to be seen if it will truly justify its special edition status. For those seeking the ultimate Elantra N experience, the standard model may still be the best choice.
