The Triumph Thruxton 400, a retro-styled cafe racer, has been spotted undergoing testing in India, indicating its imminent production. Sharing its foundation with the Speed 400, the Thruxton 400 boasts a distinctive design, featuring a frame-mounted fairing surrounding its round LED headlight, clip-on handlebars with bar-end mirrors, and a redesigned tail light. This new model, the fourth collaboration between Triumph and Bajaj, appears nearly ready for market and is anticipated to showcase fresh color options that highlight its classic cafe racer aesthetic.
Performance-wise, the Thruxton 400 is projected to utilize the same 398cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine found in the Speed 400. This engine delivers 40PS and 37.5Nm of torque and is expected to maintain the same tuning in the Thruxton, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. Similar to the Speed 400, a slip-and-assist clutch and ride-by-wire throttle are likely.
The Thruxton 400’s chassis will feature 43mm inverted forks at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. Braking will be handled by a 300mm front disc with a radial caliper and a 230mm rear disc, with 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends.
In terms of features, the Thruxton 400 is expected to mirror the Speed 400, including a semi-digital instrument cluster with an analog speedometer and an LCD screen displaying essential information such as tachometer, fuel level, trip meters, odometer, and gear position.
Anticipated to launch in the first quarter of 2025, the Thruxton 400 has been observed testing on several occasions. It’s predicted to be positioned within Triumph’s lineup between the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400 X, with an estimated price tag of around Rs 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
