Following the launch of the updated R 1300 GS in India, BMW is ready to introduce the F900 GS, marking a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the F850 GS. One of the most notable changes in the F900 GS is its reduced weight. Shedding approximately 14kg compared to the F850 GS, the new model benefits from several design and engineering improvements. A key factor in this weight reduction is the elimination of the large front beak, a distinctive feature of the previous model. Additionally, the new engine design contributes to the overall weight savings, making the F900 GS more agile and responsive.
In terms of ergonomics, BMW has made thoughtful revisions to enhance the off-road experience. The handlebar is now positioned slightly closer to the rider, and the footpegs have been lowered. These adjustments aim to improve rider comfort and control, especially during off-road adventures. The motorcycle also features a flat enduro-styled seat, designed to provide better maneuverability and support on rugged terrain.
Under the hood, the F900 GS boasts a newly developed 900cc parallel-twin engine. This powertrain delivers 105bhp and 93Nm of peak torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox for smooth and efficient gear shifts. The motorcycle is equipped with a range of modern features, including a TFT display, revised engine mapping, traction control, and keyless start, enhancing both functionality and convenience.
The updated BMW F900 GS is anticipated to make its debut in India later this month. Motorcycle enthusiasts should expect a slight increase in price compared to the F850 GS, reflecting the advanced features and improved performance of the new model.
