Gordon Murray’s T.33 Gets a Track-Focused Upgrade

Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) has announced plans to introduce a third variant of their acclaimed T.33 supercar. Joining the existing Coupe and Spider models, the T.33 S will be a slightly more track-focused version while still maintaining its road-legal status.

Like its siblings, the T.33 S will share the same carbon-aluminum monocoque chassis and be powered by Cosworth’s 3.9-liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine, a descendant of the renowned T.50’s V12. This potent engine, producing 609 horsepower and 333 lb-ft of torque in standard form, may receive a slight power bump for the S variant.

In an interview with Autocar, Gordon Murray described the T.33 S as “tougher and more focused” than the standard model. He emphasized that the S will feature enhanced downforce and more aggressive suspension tuning, making it more suitable for track driving while still remaining a capable road car.

While not as extreme as the track-only T.50 S, the T.33 S will likely incorporate subtle aerodynamic enhancements such as a revised front splitter, side skirts, and potentially a fixed rear wing, although GMA may opt for a more understated approach to maintain the car’s elegant lines.

Production numbers for the T.33 S have not been confirmed, but it’s expected to be produced in smaller quantities than the 100 Coupes and 100 Spiders planned for production.

The T.33 S, like its predecessors, will exclusively feature a 6-speed manual transmission. GMA initially considered offering a paddle-shift automatic option but abandoned the idea after receiving minimal interest from potential buyers. This unwavering commitment to the manual driving experience further solidifies the T.33’s position as a purist’s dream.
