Yamaha has given its mid-size modern classic roadster, the XSR 900, a 2025 update for international markets. The most significant change is the introduction of a larger, five-inch TFT screen that replaces the previous 3.5-inch unit. This new screen offers smartphone connectivity, enhancing the rider’s digital experience.

To comply with stricter Euro5+ emission standards, Yamaha has made internal modifications to the 890cc, three-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. The engine continues to produce 117.3 bhp at 10,000 rpm and 93 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm.

The 2025 XSR 900 now offers two customizable riding modes in addition to the previously available Sport, Street, and Rain modes. To improve downshifting smoothness, Yamaha has incorporated a Back Slip Regulator, which works in conjunction with a slipper clutch to reduce rear wheel lock-up.

The bike’s suspension setup has also been refined. The rear end now features a fully adjustable KYB monoshock with a revised linkage, aimed at enhancing ride comfort and handling.

The XSR 900 retains its classic design elements, including the minimalist styling and iconic round headlight. The seat height remains at 810 mm, making it accessible to riders of various heights. The bike tips the scales at 193 kg.

While the 2025 XSR 900 is not expected to be launched in India anytime soon, there’s speculation that Yamaha might introduce the MT-09, the naked version of the same engine, to the Indian market in the future.
