Gearheads, rejoice! Dodge is doubling down on performance with the announcement of two brand new crate engine blocks unveiled at the SEMA Show. This news comes despite Stellantis showcasing an electric Plymouth GTX at the same event, highlighting Dodge’s commitment to both the future of electric vehicles and the enduring legacy of muscle cars.
The undisputed star of the show is the A30 426 Supercharged Crate HEMI engine, also known as the “Hellephant” block. This monstrous powerplant justifies its slightly awkward name by churning out a staggering 1,000 horsepower and 950 lb-ft of torque. While the asking price starts at $8,815, the exact cost will depend on the specific “machined configuration” chosen.
Drag racing enthusiasts will be drawn to the second new offering: the Drag Pak 354 Supercharged Crate HEMI engine. This block, priced at $10,570, is specifically designed to dominate the drag strip with its potent supercharged setup.
For those who already own a Dodge equipped with the Hellcrate Redeye engine, Dodge is offering a tempting upgrade. A brand new supercharger kit, inspired by the mighty Demon 170 engine, is priced at $11,995. This package boasts a larger 3.0-liter twin-screw supercharger, a wider throttle body, and high-flow fuel injectors capable of handling an impressive 164 gallons of fuel per hour. Additionally, the kit includes an ethanol sensor, allowing for flex-fuel capability.
Rounding out the announcements are two Supercharger Replacement Snout kits, available in 2.4-liter and 2.7-liter options for $1,095 and $1,295 respectively. All engine blocks and supercharger kits are expected to be available by early 2025. Further details will be unveiled on the DCPerformance.com website closer to launch.
