TVS Recalls iQube Electric Scooters for Potential Bridge Tube Issue

TVS Motor has recalled its high-tech iQube electric scooter, which received a positive response in the Indian market. The battery-powered scooter was reported to have a faulty bridge tube component in the chassis, forcing the brand to take action.

The issue affects models manufactured between July 10, 2023, and September 9, 2023. The company will contact customers and ask them to visit an authorized dealer nearby to resolve the issue for free.

In its official statement, TVS Motor said, “TVS Motor will inspect the bridge tube of TVS iQube electric two-wheelers manufactured between July 10, 2023, and September 9, 2023, to ensure that the vehicle’s driving performance is good in case of long-term use. The company will also, if required, carry out repairs on the affected scooters, free of cost to the customer.”

Meanwhile, TVS’ latest offering, iQube, has been dominating the segment since its launch. The model was launched at a starting price of Rs 95,000, while the top-end model costs up to Rs 1.55 lakh. It is offered in five trim variants with different battery packs. The base model gets a 2.2 kWh unit that offers a decent range of 75 km on a single charge and a top speed of 75 kmph.

It has been equipped with a long list of advanced features. It features LED headlamp setup, OTA updates, 5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity, parking assist, turn-by-turn navigation, crash and fall warning, two riding modes – economy and electric, theft warning, geofencing, and USB charging port and live display status.

For those who want more power from their electric scooter: the model is also available with a 3.4 kWh battery. It offers an impressive range of 100 km on a single charge and reaches a top speed of 80 km/h.
