Gravton has recently introduced the Quanta, India’s first all-terrain electric motorcycle, powered by an LMFP (Lithium Manganese Iron Phosphate) battery.
Design: The Quanta sports a moped-like design, available in White and Red. It features a distinctive mid-section and slim tail section, setting it apart from traditional mopeds. The alloy wheels and Quanta branding add to its appeal.
Battery and Range: Equipped with a 2.78kWh LMFP battery, the Quanta offers a claimed range of 125km on a full charge. It offers three riding modes: Eco, Power, and Sports, each influencing power output and range. In Eco mode, the claimed range is 125km, while Power and Sports modes deliver 100km and 85km, respectively. The battery charges from 0-80% in 90 minutes and can be charged using a standard 3-pin socket.
Performance and Underpinnings: A wheel-mounted motor generates 3kW of power and 170Nm of torque, propelling the Quanta to a top speed of 75kmph. The trellis frame chassis and 113.6kg kerb weight contribute to its agile handling. The suspension setup includes a telescopic fork and twin-shock absorbers, while disc brakes at both ends provide braking power. The motorcycle offers a ground clearance of 183mm and a seat height of 785mm.
Features: The Quanta comes with all-LED lighting and an LCD instrument cluster that displays riding mode information. Smartphone connectivity via the Quanta app allows for remote features like bike start/stop, location tracking, and battery health monitoring.
Price and Competition: The Gravton Quanta is priced at Rs 1.2 lakh (ex-showroom) and competes with electric scooters like the Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, Ola S1, and Ather 450X.
