Ultraviolette Automotive, a Bengaluru-based electric vehicle startup, has made history by setting a new record for the fastest quarter-mile time achieved by an Indian-made motorcycle. The Ultraviolette F99 prototype, certified by the FMSCI, clocked an impressive 10.712 seconds, surpassing the previous record. The company has also set its sights on breaking the record for the highest top speed achieved by an Indian-made motorcycle.
The record-breaking F99 is a stripped-down version of the concept showcased at EICMA 2023. It boasts a lightweight design, featuring a carbon fiber exoskeleton and battery pack, weighing in at just 180 kg.
Narayan Subramaniam, co-founder and CEO of Ultraviolette, expressed pride in India’s growing capabilities in the automotive industry. He emphasized the company’s mission to challenge the dominance of foreign brands and showcase India’s engineering and design prowess.
The F99 Racing Concept is powered by a 400-volt architecture and a liquid-cooled drivetrain, delivering 121 bhp. It accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in under three seconds and reaches a top speed of 200 kmph in less than 10 seconds.
Ultraviolette has ambitious plans for the future. The company aims to introduce a production model based on the F99 by 2026 and expand its product lineup to include mid-size motorcycles and adventure motorcycles by 2027. The Concept X ADV, showcased at EICMA 2024, provides a glimpse into the company’s vision for the future.
