Chinese automaker BYD launched the Seal, a new luxury electric sedan, in the Indian market recently. The car has been very well-received, with the company delivering a significant number of units in just one day.

BYD delivered 200 BYD SEALs in a single day, showcasing strong demand across various parts of the country, including Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, and others. The launch, which took place on March 5, 2024, saw immediate success with over 1,000 bookings secured. This strong initial response suggests the BYD SEAL has the potential to shake up the luxury electric sedan segment in India.
Third Offering in India
The BYD SEAL is the third car from BYD’s portfolio to be sold in India, following the success of the new e6 and the BYD ATTO 3. This sporty sedan comes in three variants: Dynamic (starting at Rs 41 lakh), Premium (Rs 45.50 lakh), and Performance (Rs 53 lakh, all ex-showroom prices).
BYD SEAL’s Specs
The BYD SEAL boasts two battery pack options: 61.4 kWh and 82.5 kWh. The range varies depending on the variant, with the Dynamic offering 510 km, the Premium offering a class-leading 650 km, and the Performance variant offering 580 km on a single charge. With a spacious interior that seats five comfortably, the BYD SEAL also provides ample cargo space with a 50-liter front trunk and a 400-liter rear trunk. This electric sedan positions itself as a global competitor to the Tesla Model 3. Safety is a priority, with the BYD SEAL featuring ADAS Level 2 driver assistance systems and nine airbags.
