Force Gurkha 5-Door Debuts With More Power, Seating, and Rugged Capability

Force Gurkha 5-Door

Force Motors has finally unveiled the highly anticipated Force Gurkha 5-door, a longer-wheelbase version of the iconic 3-door Gurkha. This new variant boasts additional seating for adventure-loving families and off-road enthusiasts seeking a comfortable yet capable ride.

Boxy Design with Increased Functionality

The Gurkha 5-door retains the 3-door’s boxy design language, reminiscent of the legendary Mercedes-Benz G-Class. Circular LED headlights with integrated DRLs flank a bold grille sporting the “Gurkha” moniker. A chunky black bumper with fog lamps sits below, hinting at the SUV’s rugged capabilities.

The extended wheelbase becomes evident from the side profile, complemented by squared-off wheel arches and a new set of doors. A factory-fitted snorkel, optional roof rack, and stylish 18-inch alloy wheels further enhance its off-road persona.

The rear features a tailgate-mounted spare wheel with a ladder for easy roof rack access. LED taillights and prominent “Gurkha” and “Force” branding complete the look.

Functional Interior with Modern Touches

The Gurkha 5-door’s interior maintains the familiar layout of the 3-door model with the key addition of a third-row seat. Bench seats in the second row and captain seats in the third provide comfortable seating for up to seven passengers. Additional seating configurations might be offered later.

Modern features include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, manual AC with rear vents, power windows, and a digital driver’s display. Safety features include dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

Powertrain Built for Adventure

The biggest upgrade lies under the hood. The Gurkha 5-door gets a more powerful 2.6-litre diesel engine churning out 140 PS (up 50 PS) and 320 Nm of torque (up 70 Nm). A 5-speed manual transmission handles duties.

Off-road prowess is ensured with a standard 4×4 drivetrain, a low-range transfer case, and manually locking differentials for both front and rear axles. The Gurkha 5-door boasts a 700mm water wading capacity, shift-on-the-fly functionality for 2H, 4H, and 4L modes, and a ground clearance of 233mm, making it a true conqueror of any terrain.

Expected Launch and Rivals

The Force Gurkha 5-door is expected to launch in early May 2024 with a starting price of Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom). This rugged 7-seater will compete with the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door and serve as a larger alternative to the Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
