Last week’s significant launches at Harley-Davidson stole the spotlight, but Indian Motorcycles has also rolled out noteworthy updates for its 2025 lineup. The standout addition is the Indian Sport Chief RT, a premium performance cruiser designed to cater to riders’ demands for factory-installed aftermarket-grade enhancements. This model takes its place as the flagship in Indian’s Chief lineup, offering both top-tier features and a premium price point.
Engine and Performance
At its core, the Sport Chief RT retains the mechanical setup of the Chief family. It features the robust air-cooled Thunderstroke 116 V-twin engine, delivering an impressive 120 ft-lbs of torque. Riders can toggle between three modes—Sport, Standard, and Tour—to customize performance based on their needs.
Design and Hardware
The Sport Chief RT boasts cast alloy wheels paired with Metzeler Cruisetec tires. The front wheel measures 19 inches, while the 16-inch rear wheel adds a bold stance. Brembo braking systems ensure reliable stopping power. Suspension upgrades include KYB inverted forks at the front for enhanced responsiveness and piggyback rear shocks for better rear support, setting it apart from other models in the lineup.
Unique Features
What truly differentiates the Sport Chief RT are its additional features. It comes equipped with rigid locking saddlebags, providing 10 gallons of storage capacity—ample space for full riding gear. The bike also includes a two-up high seat with a 5-inch bolster, ensuring comfort during extended rides. Up front, Indian has installed six-inch risers, moto-style handlebars, and a quarter fairing with a 6.5-inch windscreen, enhancing the cruiser’s touring capability.
For entertainment, Indian has introduced the PowerBand audio system, which includes two 2.5-inch mid-range speakers, a 4.5-inch subwoofer, and two tweeters. With a combined output of 90 watts, the system can be controlled via a 4-inch touchscreen display running Indian’s Ride Command interface, complete with a five-band equalizer.
Additional standard features include cruise control, keyless ignition, ABS, and a USB charging port, ensuring the bike meets modern touring needs.
Other Models in the 2025 Lineup
In addition to the Sport Chief RT, Indian has introduced the Super Chief Dark Horse, featuring an all-black aesthetic with gloss paint and two trim levels: Limited and Dark Horse. This model, like the rest of the Chief lineup, is powered by the Thunderstroke 116 engine.
