In a gravity-defying feat, Nissan France has shattered the world record for the highest car bungee jump. The daring stunt took place in Puteaux, France, on August 12, where a Nissan Qashqai e-Power plummeted from a staggering 65 meters (213 feet) above the ground.
This record-breaking attempt was a carefully planned affair that required months of preparation. A custom-built platform was constructed to hold the car securely before its dramatic descent. The car’s interior was stripped down to reduce weight, and a specially designed bungee rope was used to control its fall.
To ensure the jump was executed flawlessly, a crane operator carefully positioned the car at the desired height. French professional race driver and stuntman Laurent Lasko took the wheel, braving the exhilarating experience. As the cage holding the car opened, the Qashqai plunged towards the ground, bouncing up and down like a regular bungee jumper.
The successful attempt not only set a new world record but also showcased the Nissan Qashqai e-Power’s capabilities. The brand has a history of pushing boundaries with its marketing campaigns, and this stunt is no exception.
This is the kind of challenge that Nissan furiously loves. The brand has always shown its ability to innovate and shake things up with audacity and sometimes even impertinence. In its various TV adverts, the Qashqai has tried its hand at skateboarding, surfing, and paintballing, all sensational activities. The new campaign will see it leap from building to building. The idea of bungee jumping as a symbol of the new Qashqai’s personality was an obvious one. – Jérôme Biguet, Marketing Director, Nissan France
By breaking this world record, Nissan aims to promote the Qashqai e-Power as a vehicle that defies the ordinary. The company’s audacious approach to marketing has helped it stand out in the competitive automotive market.
