Volkswagen has once again delayed the launch of its ID.7 electric sedan in the United States and Canada. While the company had initially planned for a launch in the third quarter of 2024, changing market dynamics and a shift in consumer preferences have led to the postponement.
Although the exact launch date remains uncertain, Volkswagen CEO Pablo Di Si has indicated that the ID.7 could arrive as early as next year, depending on market demand. The automaker has previously confirmed that the U.S.-spec model will be available in Pro S and Pro S Plus trims, offering features like illuminated logos, a panoramic glass roof, and a powerful electric motor.
The ID.7 will be powered by an 82 kWh battery pack and will be available in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. The all-wheel-drive model is expected to deliver more power and torque than the rear-wheel-drive version.
While the delay in the ID.7’s launch may disappoint some consumers, Volkswagen is clearly taking a cautious approach to the electric vehicle market in North America. It remains to be seen whether the company will be able to capitalize on the growing demand for electric vehicles when the ID.7 finally arrives.
