Royal Enfield, renowned for its classic motorcycles, is poised to enter the electric vehicle market with a new city-oriented electric bike. Spy photos recently surfaced, showcasing a near-production-ready prototype being ridden in Barcelona.
The design of the new electric Enfield draws inspiration from the iconic WD/RE125 ‘Flying Flea’ motorcycles used during World War II. It features a compact and lightweight frame, similar to modern electric rivals like the Maeving RM1S.
Expected to offer a range of 60-100 miles, a decent top speed, and a quick charging time, this electric bike is designed for urban commuting. The battery is likely fixed, rather than removable, contributing to a faster charging process.
The new Enfield is designed for riders of all levels, with a low seat height, a neutral riding position, and a retro-inspired aesthetic. It also features pillion pegs, allowing for a passenger.
Additional features include a round dash, a navigation system bracket, and a premium price point, expected to be higher than the company’s current ICE models but lower than extravagant options from other brands.
