River Indie Gets Powerful Update, Price Hiked

River Indie

River, the Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has given its sole offering, the Indie, a 2025 refresh. This update comes with a price hike of Rs 18,000, bringing the new price to Rs 1.43 lakh (ex-showroom). To justify the increased cost, River has introduced several significant upgrades.

A Unique Drive System

The most notable change is the adoption of a chain drive system paired with a single-speed gearbox. This makes the Indie the only Indian electric scooter to feature this setup. River claims this mechanical upgrade enhances durability and reduces long-term maintenance costs.

New Colors and Enhanced Features

The 2025 Indie is now available in two new colors: Winter White and Storm Grey, in addition to the existing Monsoon Blue, Summer Red, and Spring Yellow options.

The scooter continues to be powered by a 4 kWh battery pack that offers an IDC range of 160 km. It supports fast charging, reaching 80% capacity in approximately 5 hours with a 750W charger. The Indie offers three riding modes: Eco, Ride, and Rush.

Living up to its “SUV of scooters” moniker, the Indie boasts a generous 55 liters of storage space, split between a spacious under-seat compartment (43 liters) and a glovebox (12 liters). Other key features include a 6-inch digital display, all-LED lighting, dual USB charging ports, reverse parking assist, 14-inch alloy wheels, CBS with adaptive regen, side-stand motor cutoff, and more. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic front forks and a coil-spring rear unit, while braking is provided by disc brakes on both wheels.
