Hero MotoCorp’s electric vehicle sub-brand, Vida, is expanding its horizons beyond electric scooters. After making waves in the electric two-wheeler market with its scooters, Vida is now gearing up to enter the exciting world of electric motorcycles. A recent design patent has revealed intriguing details about an upcoming electric dirt bike from the brand, hinting at an off-road-focused addition to their lineup.
Inspired by EICMA 2023 Concepts
The leaked design patent closely resembles the electric ADV motorcycles showcased by Hero at EICMA 2023 – the Lynx and Acro. While the Lynx was an adult-sized electric dirt bike, the Acro was a smaller, learner-focused electric motorcycle. Certain design cues, such as the potential absence of a front brake, suggest that this new model may be more closely aligned with the Acro concept, targeting younger riders.
Key Design Features
The patented design showcases a compact and agile dirt bike with key features like a raised handlebar, centrally positioned footpegs, and a long, flat seat. The bike boasts a distinctive raised front beak, lending it a rugged and adventurous appearance. To enhance off-road capabilities, the motorcycle features a height-adjustable telescopic front suspension and a rear mono-shock. Knobby tires are expected to provide optimal grip on various terrains.
Powertrain and Technology
The electric dirt bike is likely to be equipped with a removable battery pack for convenient charging. Power will be delivered to the rear wheel via an electric motor and a belt-drive system. This configuration is expected to offer a smooth and efficient power delivery, making it suitable for young riders to learn and explore off-road riding techniques.
