Mercedes-Benz India has made a significant stride in the electric luxury vehicle segment with the launch of the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680. As the first electric Maybach from the renowned German automaker, this SUV seamlessly blends opulence with eco-friendliness. Priced at Rs 2.25 crore (ex-showroom), the EQS 680 offers a claimed range of up to 611 km on a single charge (WLTP cycle). This launch follows the successful introduction of the Mercedes EQA and EQB electric SUVs in India.

The Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 exudes a commanding presence on the road. Measuring 5,125mm in length, 1,959mm in width, and 1,721mm in height, it boasts a substantial footprint. The 3,210mm wheelbase and 440-liter boot space further enhance its practicality. To complement its imposing stature, the EQS 680 rides on stylish 21 or 22-inch alloy and forged wheels.

Design: A Blend of Elegance and Innovation

The EQS 680’s design is a harmonious blend of elegance and innovation. A dual-tone paint scheme adds a touch of sophistication, while the vertical slats on the front grille and prominent Maybach logos reinforce its luxurious heritage. The distinctive “EQS” embossed on the window frame and the Mercedes Digital Light LED headlamps with 1 million pixels per headlight further set it apart. Other notable exterior elements include LED DRLs that double as turn indicators, connected tail lamps, a sculpted bonnet, and a roof spoiler.

Interior: A Haven of Luxury

Step inside the EQS 680, and you’ll be greeted by an interior that rivals the finest luxury suites. The MBUX Hyperscreen, along with twin 11.6-inch screens for rear passengers, creates a futuristic and immersive experience. To enhance comfort and convenience, the EQS 680 features a 15-speaker Burmester surround sound system, ambient lighting with 64 color LEDs and 13 lighting combinations, and multi-zone climate control.

The EQS 680’s premium seats are upholstered in luxurious Nappa leather and offer a range of comfort features, including ventilation, massage functions, neck and shoulder heating, and calf massage. Exclusive to the left-rear occupant, the “boss mode” package allows for unparalleled relaxation. The Nappa leather extends to the steering wheel, which features the iconic Maybach logo and can tilt from 2.5 to 10 degrees depending on speed. For a smooth and comfortable ride, the EQS 680 is equipped with self-leveling, height-adjustable AIRMATIC suspension.

Safety is a top priority in the EQS 680. The SUV comes with a 360-degree surround camera, 11 airbags (including a central airbag for rear passengers), advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), ABS, EBD, and traction control. Even the seat buckles feature chrome edging and illuminate when unfastened.

Powerful Performance and Efficiency

The EQS 680’s top-spec 680 trim is powered by a dual-motor setup and 4MATIC all-wheel drive, delivering a formidable 658 hp and 950 Nm of torque. A 122kWh battery pack supports 200kW DC fast charging, ensuring quick and convenient recharging. The EQS 680 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 210 km/h.
