Maserati Unveils Limited Edition GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello Inspired by Italian Wine

Talking about individual pieces can get pretty boring quickly. We all like to think about cars we’ll probably never own, but they lose their luster when it seems like the carmaker has an endless supply of special editions. The GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello, the latest exclusive creation from Maserati’s Fuoriserie customization department, loses none of its luster.

Unlike most one-offs inspired by the carmaker’s history, the new Maserati is dedicated to Tignanello, an Italian wine made by Marchesi Antinori, whose family has been producing wine for over 600 years. The inspiration is clear from the first moment you see the Tignanello.

The exterior is painted in a beautiful shade of red that Maserati has called Terra di Tignanello. According to the manufacturer, the color is inspired by the vineyard soil and “recalls the central red tones of the characteristic Tignanello barrels.” The gloss black brake calipers are hidden behind matte black wheels. The badge stands out from the exterior colors thanks to its bright copper color.

The real magic is found in the Tignanello’s interior, which combines brown leather with silver and burgundy ribbed fabric. The weave pattern is made from Vegea, a substitute for vine leather. A plaque with the years “1971-2021” adorns the center console and references the first and current vintage of Tignanello. The interior mimics the imprint of the vineyard’s oak barrels and features laser-engraved dark briar wood.

Like the standard car on which it is based, the GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello has all-wheel drive and uses three electric motors to produce a total of 818 horsepower. The batteries are powered by an 83.0 kWh battery pack. An 800-volt architecture allows for DC fast charging at rates of up to 270 kilowatts. On paper, the GranCabrio has a range of up to 230 miles according to the EPA cycle.
