Audi is expanding its electric vehicle lineup with the introduction of the new Q6 Sportback e-tron and SQ6 Sportback e-tron. These stylish crossover coupes will make their debut at the Paris Motor Show and are expected to arrive in the United States next spring or summer.
Following in the footsteps of the Q6 and SQ6 e-tron, these models adopt the proven formula established by the Q4 and Q8 Sportback e-trons. The result is a sleek and aerodynamic design featuring a rakish windscreen, a sportier roofline, and a compact greenhouse.
Design and Efficiency:
The Q6 Sportback e-tron and SQ6 Sportback e-tron boast a lower drag coefficient of 0.26, which is 0.02 better than the regular model. This improvement contributes to a longer range, with the Sportback capable of traveling up to 408 miles (656 km) on a single charge.
While the crossover coupe shares its length and wheelbase with the standard model, it sits up to 1.5 inches (37 mm) lower, enhancing its dynamic appearance.
Interior and Technology:
Inside, the Q6 Sportback e-tron and SQ6 Sportback e-tron feature a high-tech interior with an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch infotainment system running Android Automotive OS. For an even more immersive experience, customers can opt for an augmented reality head-up display and a 10.9-inch front passenger display.
The voice assistant has been “supercharged” by ChatGPT, enabling it to recognize over 800 commands. Additionally, a 20-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium audio system with four-speakers integrated into the front headrests is available for those seeking an exceptional listening experience.
Sustainability and Practicality:
Audi has prioritized sustainability in the design of these models. The interior features an assortment of eco-friendly materials, including recycled elements. The roof lining, pillars, and sun visors are covered in Draft, a fabric made from 100 percent recycled polyester. Other sustainable materials like Elastic Melange are also available.
Despite its sleek design, the Q6 Sportback e-tron offers practicality. It includes a 2.2 cubic foot (64 liter) frunk and a cargo compartment that can hold 18 cubic feet (511 liters) of luggage. This capacity can be expanded to 48.5 cubic feet (1,373 liters) by folding down the rear seats.
Performance and Range:
All models are based on the Premium Platform Electric architecture. The entry-level Q6 Sportback e-tron is equipped with an 83 kWh battery pack and a rear-mounted motor producing up to 288 hp (215 kW / 292 PS). This combination allows it to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in seven seconds and achieve a range of up to 339 miles (545 km).
For those seeking more power and range, the Q6 Sportback e-tron performance offers a larger 100 kWh battery and a more powerful motor developing up to 322 hp (240 kW / 326 PS). This results in a quicker 0-62 mph acceleration time of 6.6 seconds and an extended range of up to 408 miles (656 km).
All-weather traction is provided by the 383 hp (285 kW / 388 PS) Q6 Sportback e-tron quattro. This dual-motor variant can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 5.9 seconds and offers a range of up to 395 miles (636 km).
At the top of the lineup is the SQ6 Sportback e-tron, delivering a powerful 510 hp (380 kW / 517 PS) and accelerating from 0-62 mph in just 4.3 seconds. This high-performance model has a range of 377 miles (607 km) and a top speed of 143 mph (230 km/h).
Charging Capabilities:
When the battery needs recharging, the Q6 Sportback e-tron supports DC fast charging with capacities of 225 kW, 260 kW, and 270 kW. This allows the battery to go from 10% to 80% charge in as little as 22 minutes.
Pricing and Availability:
German pricing for the Q6 Sportback e-tron starts at €65,900, while UK customers can expect to pay £62,475. US pricing will be announced closer to launch, but it’s anticipated to be higher than the Q6 e-tron, which starts at $63,800.
The Audi Q6 Sportback e-tron and SQ6 Sportback e-tron offer a compelling combination of style, performance, and sustainability. With their impressive range, advanced technology, and luxurious interiors, these crossover coupes are set to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market.
