Skoda is set to create a buzz in the Indian automotive market as it gears up to reveal the name of its highly anticipated sub-4 meter SUV on August 21st. The Czech carmaker has already generated excitement with a naming contest that saw participants selecting from ten ‘K’ starting options, aligning with Skoda’s SUV nomenclature. While the official name remains a mystery, the company has unveiled exterior sketches of the upcoming compact SUV, adding to the anticipation.
Based on the successful MQB-A0-IN platform shared with the Kushaq and Slavia, Skoda’s new sub-4 meter SUV promises a perfect blend of style and substance. The SUV’s design is expected to embody Skoda’s signature muscular yet elegant aesthetic, featuring prominent wheel arches and a bold front grille adorned with the brand’s iconic vertical slats. The split headlamp setup with LED DRLs and main headlight units adds a contemporary touch.
Inside the cabin, the new Skoda SUV is likely to borrow features from its elder siblings, the Kushaq and Slavia. Expect a tech-laden interior with highlights like a 10-inch infotainment system, wireless smartphone connectivity, and a digital instrument cluster for top-end variants. Comfort and convenience will be prioritized with features such as ventilated seats, ambient lighting, sunroof, and automatic climate control.
Safety remains a paramount concern for Skoda, and the sub-4 meter SUV is expected to follow in the footsteps of the Kushaq and Slavia by achieving a coveted five-star safety rating from Global NCAP. A comprehensive suite of safety features, including multiple airbags, rear parking sensors, camera, tyre pressure monitor, rain-sensing wipers, Hill Hold Control, and cruise control, is likely to be offered.
Under the hood, Skoda is expected to equip the sub-4 meter SUV with a 114 bhp 1-litre TSI petrol engine, catering to the demands of the price-sensitive segment. Both manual and automatic transmission options are anticipated to be available.
With its combination of striking design, advanced features, and expected strong safety performance, Skoda’s upcoming sub-4 meter SUV is poised to make a significant impact on the competitive Indian market.
