MG Motor India has announced a price hike for its popular Hector and Hector Plus SUV models. The price increase ranges from Rs 22,000 for the Hector to Rs 30,000 for the Hector Plus, depending on the specific variant and engine option.

The entry-level MG Hector Style has seen a price increase of Rs 16,000 for the petrol variant and Rs 18,000 for the diesel variant. Higher-spec variants have experienced price hikes of up to Rs 20,000 for petrol models and Rs 22,000 for diesel models. It’s worth noting that MG Motor reduced the Hector’s price by Rs 1 lakh earlier this year, making the current price increases less significant.

The MG Hector Plus, a three-row SUV, has also seen a price hike. Petrol-manual variants have increased by Rs 20,000-23,000, petrol-automatic variants by Rs 24,000-25,000, and diesel variants by Rs 20,000-30,000. Even the entry-level Hector Plus Select Pro variant has experienced a price increase.

Both the Hector and Hector Plus are powered by a choice of engines: a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine producing 141 bhp or a 2.0-litre diesel engine with 168 bhp. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual or CVT for petrol variants and a 6-speed manual for diesel variants.

Feature highlights of both SUVs include 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, LED reading lights, a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and connected car technology. The MG Hector competes with the Tata Harrier, Mahindra Scorpio-N, and Jeep Compass, while the Hector Plus takes on the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, and Hyundai Alcazar.
