Mercedes-Benz has commenced production of the sixth-generation E-Class long wheelbase (LWB) at its Chakan plant near Pune, India. India will be the first right-hand drive market to receive this new model.
The new E-Class LWB is expected to go on sale in India on October 9, 2024, with deliveries starting around Diwali. The model has already received type approval from ARAI and has undergone extensive testing in India and abroad.
The new E-Class LWB offers a number of enhancements over its predecessor, including a larger interior, a more advanced technology package, and a more powerful engine option. It features a redesigned exterior with new LED headlights and taillights, as well as a spacious and luxurious interior with a large touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster.
Mercedes will offer two engine options for the new E-Class LWB: a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.0-liter diesel engine. Both engines are paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and benefit from a 48V mild hybrid system.
The new E-Class LWB is expected to be a popular choice among luxury car buyers in India, offering a combination of style, comfort, and performance.
