Kia is preparing to introduce an all-new compact SUV named Syros, which is set to make its official debut in India on December 19. The Syros is expected to hit the market in early 2024. Over the past year, the SUV has been spotted testing multiple times, generating excitement among enthusiasts. Kia has also released teasers on its social media platforms, offering glimpses of the SUV’s design and features, although official specifications remain under wraps.
Kia Syros Engine Options
According to a report from Autocar India, the Syros will offer two engine choices. The first is a 1.5-litre diesel engine delivering 114 bhp and 250 Nm of torque, the same powertrain seen in models like the Kia Sonet, Seltos, Carens, and Hyundai Creta. The second option is a 1.0-litre turbocharged GDI petrol engine producing 118 bhp and 172 Nm of torque, also used in the Sonet, Hyundai Venue, and Verna.
The Syros diesel variant will come with two gearbox options: a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic, similar to the Sonet. The petrol variant will offer either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission. Unlike the Sonet, the Syros will not feature the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, indicating a more performance-oriented lineup.
Kia Syros Expected Features
Kia is positioning the Syros as a more premium offering compared to the Sonet, which is likely to result in a higher starting price. The SUV is expected to come equipped with an array of modern features, including LED headlights and taillights, a twin-screen dashboard layout, an electric sunroof, a 360-degree camera, automatic rain-sensing wipers, wireless smartphone integration, and a high-quality audio system.
With its premium design, advanced features, and powerful engine options, the Kia Syros aims to set new benchmarks in the compact SUV segment. Its official unveiling on December 19 will reveal more details, making it a highly anticipated launch for early 2024.
