Mahindra has expanded the appeal of the XUV700 with the introduction of a new 7-seat variant in the MX3 diesel trim. This new model starts at a competitive price of Rs. 15 lakh, making it a significantly more affordable option compared to the previously available 7-seater AX3 variant (starting at Rs. 18 lakh).
Targeting a Wider Audience
Previously offered only in a 5-seat configuration, the MX variant is the most basic trim level for the XUV700. This new 7-seat option in the MX3 diesel broadens the XUV700’s reach to budget-conscious buyers seeking a feature-packed 7-seater SUV.
Standard Features on the MX3 Diesel
Despite being the base trim, the MX3 diesel isn’t bare-bones. Here are some of the key features included:
- 7-inch MID display
- 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system
- Rear AC vents
- Electrically adjustable ORVMs
Engine and Transmission
The MX3 diesel is powered by Mahindra’s proven 2.2-litre diesel engine churning out 153bhp and 360Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to a smooth-shifting 6-speed manual gearbox. It’s important to note that while the MX trim offers a petrol engine option, it’s currently only available in the 5-seat configuration.
Enhanced Competitiveness
The introduction of the MX3 diesel 7-seater strategically positions the XUV700 to compete more effectively with popular choices like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos in the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment.
Mahindra XUV700 Blaze Edition
In addition to the new MX3 diesel variant, Mahindra has also introduced a new top-of-the-line “Blaze Edition” based on the AX7L trim. Priced at a premium of Rs. 25,000, the Blaze Edition likely offers additional cosmetic and feature upgrades over the standard AX7L.
Overall, Mahindra’s strategic expansion of the XUV700 variant range makes it a more compelling choice for a wider range of buyers.
