The Mahindra Thar Roxx has achieved a remarkable feat by securing a full 5-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash tests. This prestigious recognition applies to all variants of the popular SUV, including the AX5L and MX3 models that were specifically tested.
Key Safety Features:
The Thar Roxx comes standard with a comprehensive safety package, including:
- Six airbags
- Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
- Seat belt reminders
Higher variants offer additional safety features such as:
- Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems)
- 360-degree camera
- Tyre pressure monitoring system
Detailed Crash Test Results:
- Adult Occupant Protection: The Thar Roxx scored an impressive 31.09 out of 32 points. While it provided good overall protection, the driver’s chest and legs received adequate protection during the frontal offset test. The side impact pole test, however, demonstrated excellent protection.
- Child Occupant Protection: The SUV scored 45 out of 49 points in this category. The standard ISOFIX child seat mounts and the overall protective structure contributed to the high score.
Mahindra’s Commitment to Safety:
R Velusamy, President of Automotive Technology and Product Development at Mahindra & Mahindra, expressed pride in the company’s commitment to safety. He highlighted Mahindra’s pioneering efforts in introducing six airbags in 2011 and their continued dedication to setting new safety standards.
With this 5-star rating, the Mahindra Thar Roxx becomes the first body-on-frame SUV to achieve the highest safety rating in the Bharat NCAP tests. Previously, the Thar 3-door had secured a 4-star rating from Global NCAP.
