Land Rover has redefined off-road luxury with the introduction of the Defender Octa, the most powerful Defender ever created. This beast boasts a new 4.4L Twin-Turbo V8 engine, replacing the older 5.0L Supercharged unit, and promises unmatched capability and luxurious touches.
Inspired by Tough Luxury
The name “Octa” signifies both toughness and luxury, mirroring the Defender’s character. Land Rover offers the Defender Octa in two variants: the standard model and the exclusive Edition One. The Edition One boasts a starting price of Rs 2.85 cr (Ex-showroom) and features a unique Faroe Green exterior paint job with Khaki and Ebony Ultrafabrics upholstery. It also comes with exclusive 20-inch forged alloy wheels and chopped Carbon Fibre accents adorning both the interior and exterior. Both variants get a new emblem, with the Edition One featuring its own distinct design.
Uncompromising Performance
The Defender Octa pushes the boundaries of off-road performance. It’s equipped with the largest tires ever seen on a Defender – 33-inch behemoths housed within extended wheel arches. New front and rear bumpers complement the flared arches, while a tough metallic multi-panel bash plate safeguards the undercarriage. A quad exhaust setup adds a touch of visual aggression.
Luxury Meets Functionality
Inside, the standard Defender Octa features luxurious touches like Performance Seats and cutting-edge Body and Soul audio technology. The Edition One takes it a step further with chopped Carbon Fibre trims and Ultrafabric PU options.
Unmatched Capability
For the first time on a Defender, the Octa features a hydraulically interlinked 6D Dynamics semi-active suspension setup, ensuring exceptional handling on any terrain. It also boasts the fastest steering geometry of any Defender to date and powerful 400mm front brakes with Brembo calipers. Wading through water becomes a breeze with the Defender Octa’s impressive 1-meter water wading capability.
Powerhouse Performance
The heart of the Defender Octa lies in its all-new 4.4L Twin-Turbo V8 engine. This powerhouse generates a staggering 626 bhp and 800 Nm of torque (750 Nm standard) in Dynamic Launch Mode. The 0-100 km/h sprint is achieved in a mind-blowing 4 seconds.
Technological Enhancements
The Defender Octa comes packed with advanced technologies to elevate your off-road experience. It features enhanced drive modes (Comfort, Dynamic, and Octa), off-road launch control, switchable traction control, off-road ABS, Clear-Sight Ground View, and Terrain Response Modes (Sand, Mud and Ruts, Grass Gravel Snow, and Rock Crawl).
A Worthy Competitor
The Defender Octa is poised to take on established luxury off-roaders like the Mercedes-Benz G-Class and Lexus LX. With its unmatched power, innovative technology, and luxurious touches, the Defender Octa is a true testament to Land Rover’s engineering prowess. It’s set to make its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, with bookings opening soon.
